Overview
Figure 1. The expanded Sections tab
Sections provide a way to organize and limit Users’ access to certain shifts within the schedule, e.g. by department (cardiology, pediatrics, and ED) or physical location (main, north and east), or any other categories according to your needs. Users may be granted access to one or more sections. Sections also determine the request deadline that applies to a given User (the earliest deadline across all Sections that a User belongs to will apply, unless a User’s “Primary Section” is set, in which case the Primary Section’s deadline will apply).
To be able to assign Users to shifts or allow them to request or swap into specific shifts, you will also need to make them available for the Shift Types contained within the Sections that they belong to.
Configuration
While you can add a Section in Intrigma Scheduler+, you can only link a Section to a Shift Type when creating a Shift Type in the Intrigma Scheduling System (ISS). This means that you must create your sections (in either Scheduler+ or ISS) and shift types (in ISS) first before you can link them together. You can then assign shift types to your Users when you create a schedule covering specific sections.
Creating a New Shift Type
Like Sections, Shift Types serve as a way to limit access and organize your schedule. Further, Shift Types allow you to easily track schedule statistics over time.
For more information on creating a new Shift Type, see Shift Types.
Walkthroughs
Creating a New Section
To add a new section:
Click the hamburger menu on the top left, then click the Sections tab on the left.
On the bottom left of the Sections page, click the Add New Section button.
Figure 3. Select the Sections tab under the hamburger menu, then click Add New Section.
Enter the section’s name and abbreviation, then click Create to add the section to the list of sections.
Figure 4. Enter the name and abbreviation of the new section before clicking Create.
Note: Sections can also be created within the ISS.
Assigning a User to a Section
You can modify the Sections that a User belongs to from two different Settings tabs, both of which are accessible from the hamburger menu on the top left of the Dashboard.
Sections: From the Sections tab, select a Section, then select the Users to be added to the Section within the Available Users list. This is the better option for adding or removing many Users for a single section at once.
Figure 5. Select the Users who belong to the new section.
Users: Select a User that you would like to modify the Section availability for. Then, click on the "Availability" sub tab and use the check boxes to modify the Sections they belong to. This option is better when adding or removing many Sections, for a single User.
You may also set the User’s Primary section, if any, from the dropdown dialog. Doing so will override the request deadline that applied to this User— otherwise, the earliest Request Deadline across all sections that the User belongs to will apply.
Making a User Available for Assignment to a Shift Type
Before you can assign your Users to shifts, you need to make them available for assignment to those shifts.
To Make a User Available for a Shift Type:
Click the hamburger menu on the top left to open the Users tab.
Select the User from the list of Users. To narrow down the search, enter the User’s name on the Search bar on top of the list.
On the User’s Account page, click the Availability tab.
Click the If this User will be assigned shifts, add to the schedule by clicking here button to the right of the Sections list.
Figure 6. Click the blue button on the right to show the list of available shifts for the selected section.
Select the shifts to which the User can be assigned from the list of shifts. This makes the User immediately available for assignment to the selected shifts. Depending on your account’s configuration, this will also allow them to request to work these specific Shift Types or Swap into these shifts.

Once periods have been created, Sections have been set up, and Users have been assigned to Shifts, you will then be ready to publish your schedule. Publishing the schedule makes it available for your Users to see across Intrigma’s web and mobile platforms. If permitted, they will also be able to initiate Swaps or Sick Call outs.
